| 22nd April - The first teams relegation fears were finally put to bed as they drew 1-1 at home to Norcross & Warbreck. The match ended controversially, after Jordan Smethurst had put them in front after just 15 minutes, when in the 5th minute of injury time the referee adjudged Gavin Bates of stepping over the 18 yard box when collecting a long ball and from the resultant free kick the visitors equalised. Nevertheless with Wyre Villa completing their fixtures with a defeat at Croston the first team are guaranteed first division football for another season. They complete this season's fixtures with a trip to Cumbria a week on Saturday to play Crooklands Casuals. | 19th April - The first team's relegation fears were eased as they overcame a stubborn Millom side at a sunny Station Road. | 5th April - The first team's recent good form continued as they faced leaders Lostock St Gerards at Station Road. On a bright but very windy spring afternoon the first team took advantage of the conditions in the first half and were rewarded after 20 minutes when a long clearance caused havoc in the visitors defence and Richard Burns reacted the quickest to score the opening goal on 20 minutes. After the break Lostock St Gerards took no time in equalising but despite having the elements in their favour they caused few problems as the first team stood firm to earn another point. This coming weekend the first team are at Wyre Villa on Saturday with a 3pm kick off and then they entertain Crosshills from Keighley on Easter Monday which also kicks off at 3pm. 15th March - The first team entertained league leaders Tempest United at a very windy Station Road and were unfortunate not to get anything from a close game. With the wind at their backs the visitors began strongly and were eventually rewarded after 20 minutes when they took the lead. However it wasn't all one way traffic and a terrific volley by Ben Goodson on the half hour put the first team level at the interval. The second half was a scrappy affair and it was looking likely that no more goals would be added but as often happens when a team is at the top of the table that little bit of extra luck grinds out a result and Tempest duly took that chance late in the game to take all three points. The reserves returned to action after a 3 week lay off and they were well beaten 5-0 at Bolton County. This coming weekend the 1st team entertain Milnthorpe Corinthians whilst the reserves travel in the opposite direction with both games kicking off at 3pm. For further details click on LEAGUE above. |

Unbeaten now in four league games they have moved up a spot in the table thanks to this victory. Richard Burns opened the scoring on the half hour with a speculative shot from just inside the box which slipped under the keeper's body to give them the half time lead. Shaun Royle added a second five minutes after the break after bursting forward from his centre back's position and this time Croston's keeper had no chance with an unstoppable strike from 15 yards. The visitors hit back and were duly rewarded 15 minutes from the end to give the match a nervous ending for the first team but they hung on to claim the points. 1st March - The first team played their first home match for over 3 months as they entertained Wyre Villa at Station Road looking for a victory to move them away from the bottom three. Dominating most of the first half and missing several chances which eventually proved costly they only had a superb left foot 20 yard strike from Craig Bamber after 15 minutes to show at the interval. The visitors consequently hit back in the second half to equalise after 65 minutes and at this point look the more likely winners but the first team hit back and should have taken all three points but for a glaring miss and a superb save by the Villa keeper late in the game. The reserves were without a fixture and they also have a blank weekend coming up as the first team entertain close rivals Croston Sports Club at Station Road kicking off at 3pm. | 21st December - The first team completed their last fixture of 2008 with a well earned point at leaders Lostock St Gerards. On a sodden pitch the home side surged forward in the early stages, however after 20 minutes a well hit free kick from skipper Steve Greenwood struck a post and Richard Burns reacted the quickest to fire in the rebound. The home side struggled to find a way through a solid defence and when they did they found keeper Paul Green in great form. The equaliser came mid way through the second half however and Lostock St Gerards began looking for the winner but not for the first time they couldn't get past a well marshalled defence and keeper Green and in fact twice on the break the first team could have snatched an unlikely winner but in the end the points were shared. The reserves match at home was postponed due to a waterlogged Station Road. Both teams return to action in 2009 with the first team at home to Norcross & Warbreck and the reserves travel to Burnley United with both games kicking off at 2pm. 7th December - Following last weeks fine win in Yorkshire the first team were confident that they could continue this form as they travelled to Cumbria to play Barrow's Hawcoat Park. Unfortunately the home side had different ideas and eventually ran out 5-1 winners on a pitch that was in excellent condition considering the heavy rain and snow earlier in the week. Despite having most of the play the first team found themselves a goal down at the interval to a penalty. Within 5 minutes of the restart they were 3 down and although Richard Burns pulled one back with 20 minutes left the Barrow side quickly went down the other end to add another two to win the game comfortably in the end. The reserves match at Station Road didn't survive the recent bad weather and they will be hoping to get back into action next weekend with a trip to Lytham whilst the first team will look to quickly get back to winning ways when they entertain Millom at Station Road with both games kicking off at 2pm.
