There will be a pitch inspection at 9.00am Saturday morning to judge whether or not to postpone the reserves cup fixture v Norcross & Warbreck which is due to kick off at 1.30pm. ____________________________________________________________ A SALUTE TO THE TROOPS The following letter was received from Captain Paul Mitchell following yesterdays game between British soldiers, hosted at Station Road and the 3G complex. Dear Paul, Mark and John, What can I say? We had a superb day at Hesketh Bank yesterday. I cannot thank you fellas and all of the staff at the 3G complex enough we were looked after from start to finish and I am eternally grateful. The pitch, surroundings & food were superb and with a 7-1 Semi-Final win and also a great raffle prize we headed back to Preston with spirits soaring!! The lads got away to Chilwell to begin their build up for Afghanistan this morning but the 4am start I had was how can I put it? emotional. I will definitely be in touch with regards trying to play the final at your location but as we all know the weather is the deciding factor. Either way I will be in touch. Once again from me, the lads & their families thank you for giving us a great day it was very much appreciated!! Numbers are available at £5.00 per month, anyone wishing to join the draw please contact Dave Seed on 01772 815357 _______________________________________________ 1ST TEAM GAME POSTPONED 12th November 2009 - Due to the participation of Norcross in the Lancashire Shield the 1st team's game this Saturday has been postponed. ____________________________________________________________ HESKETH BANK AFC HELP OUT THE BRITISH ARMY Captain Paul Mitchell of the 4th Battalion the Duke of Lancaster 's Regiment has been searching locally for a ground to stage the following fixture. Hesketh Bank AFC and the owners of the 3g all weather pitch, Sally and Mark Atkinson, are more than willing to be able to offer without charge their facilities and provide after match refreshments. Each year 42 ( North West ) Brigade hold a Football Tournament which is contested amongst the Reservist Units based in the North West . The winners of the area competition then go onto represent this region in the Nationals. The 4 th Battalion the Duke of Lancaster 's Regiment (4 LANCS) your local Infantry TA Regiment have been drawn against LIVERPOOL UNIVERSITY OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (LUOTC) in the semi-final of this year's competition and they have taken up the offer to use Hesketh Bank AFC facilities, this coming Sunday 15 th November 2009 with a 1.30pm Kick off. In the event of inclement weather the match will take place on the adjacent 3g all weather adjacent surface although confirmation is still to be received from LUOTC that this is acceptable. Admission to the fixture is free so come down to the Centenary Sports Ground on Station Road, Hesketh Bank and give your support to your local Infantry TA Regiment. ____________________________________________________________ TEAM OF THE MONTH..MANAGER OF THE MONTH! After our recent rampant form the West Lancashire League named us as Team of the Month in Division 1 for October. Vaughn Birkby also picked up his first Manager of the Month award. Pictures of the presentation will follow sometime this week. On behalf of the club we congratulate Vaughn for an excellent month and hope that this good form continues in our run up to the new year.
